PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "three-dimensional object detection method and device" for detecting many edges from a specific image by using a simple method in which the load on image processing is small. SOLUTION: This three-dimensional object detection method includes: performing edge detection processing to both an image acquired by applying anti-aliasing processing to a camera photographic image and an image to which anti-aliasing processing is not applied for detecting an edge; calculating an optical flow by using the edge detection points of the both images for detecting a three-dimensional object. This device for implementing the method is provided with a photographic original image edge detection part 6 for detecting an edge by using a photographic image input to an edge detection part 5 as it is; an anti-aliasing processing image edge detection part 7 for detecting an edge by using the image to which anti-aliasing processing is applied, and configured to compare the detected edges by overlapping the both images, and to discriminate and gather the same detection points, and to perform optical flow processing by using the total edge detection points for detecting a three-dimensional object.
