PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump for an engine having a temperature sensing movable member of a simple structure capable of automatically adjusting a delivery quantity according to the temperature of engine cooling water built therein. SOLUTION: In a water pump for a water cooled engine having an impeller storage space part of a pump housing, an impeller rotatably arranged in the impeller storage space part, a swirl chamber formed at an outer circumference side of the impeller storage space part, a cutwater part dividing the swirl chamber to a downstream side and an upstream side, and a suction passage communicating to one side of the impeller storage space part, the temperature sensing movable member which can adjust a clearance between a wall surface of the outer circumference wall and an outer circumference with depending on water temperature is provided at an outer circumference wall part of the impeller storage space part at the cutwater part in the pump housing, and the clearance under low cooling water temperature is kept larger than the clearance under high cooling water temperature by the movable member.
