PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a thermoplastic elastomer composition excellent in flexibility, moldability and surface appearance and capable of forming a foam having high expansion ratio, high independently-foaming property and homogeneous expansion foam shape and being excellent in rubber elasticity, flexibility and surface appearance. SOLUTION: This production method for a thermal elastomer composition comprises: subjecting to a dynamic thermal treatment, a mixture containing (A) a rubber, (B-1-b) an α-olefin-based crystalline thermoplastic resin and/or α-olefin-based amorphous thermoplastic resin having a melt strength of less than 3.0 cN at 210°C and at a drawing rate of 2.0 m/min in the presence of (C) a crosslinker; and adding to the resultant reaction mixture, (B-1-a) a thermoplastic resin having a melt strength of 3.0 cN or more at 210°C and at a drawing rate of 2.0 m/min and/or (B-2-a) a thermoplastic resin composition a melt strength of 3.0 cN or more at 210°C and at a drawing rate of 2.0 m/min.
