METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR THE TREATMENT OF CANCER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method postponing onset of tumors threatening life and/or improving quality of life by further reducing tumor load. SOLUTION: The method for treating a mammal having a solid tumor (or tumor) comprises (a) a step of administering a first compound in an active amount containingβ-lapachone or its derivative as an active ingredient to the mammal and (b) a step of administering G2/M phase drug in an active amount. The administration of a G1 and/or S phase drug such asβ-lapachone in combination with a G2/M drug such as a taxane derivative (e.g. paclitaxel) resulted in synergistic reduction in the number of tumors (and tumor volume) as compared with the administration of these agents alone.
