PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of preventing faulty printing such as color shift from occurring even when performing color printing while it is placed on a recording medium while avoiding upsizing, complication and cost rise of a housing. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a thermal head 40 for forming an image on the image forming surface of an intermediate transfer sheet 70, and a heat roller 60 for retransferring the image formed on the image forming surface of the intermediate transfer sheet 70 to the recording medium. The thermal head 40 is arranged on the image forming surface side of the intermediate transfer sheet 70 and can move along the intermediate transfer sheet 70, and the heat roller 60 is arranged on an opposite side to the image forming surface of the intermediate transfer sheet 70 and can move along the intermediate transfer sheet 70.
