867,004. Filters. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. Feb. 19, 1960 [March 3, 1959], No. 7310/59. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] A part, i.e. 270 degrees or wholly annular accordion pleated liquid filter element is made from a rectangular strip of paper impregnated with resin to obtain the desired porosity and strength. The dimpled paper with adhesive down both edges, on one side only, is folded transversely and the opposing adhesive coated edges sealed to form pockets 5, the peripheral edges of which are themselves adhesive coated so that when the filter element is expanded arcuately and positioned on a centrally apertured support disc 7 the filter element adheres thereon, the pockets 5 being aligned with lines of radial holes in the disc 7, which may be resin impregnated cardboard or sheet metal. If the disc 7 is cardboard it may be appropriately creased so that the disc 7 and the filter element may be folded for storage.
|
