发明名称 Improved method of making electrode blanks
摘要 867,172. Batteries. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Nov. 18, 1959 [Nov. 19,. 1958], No. 39039/59. Class 53. [Also in Group XXII] A process for manufacturing battery electrodes comprises depositing a layer of metal powder, for example nickel powder, on a flat metallic conductive web, sintering the powder to cause the particles to adhere to the web and to one another, depositing comminuted electro-chemically active electrode material, sintering such material to form a coherent layer and applying rolling pressure to the resulting blank to compress and elongate it and produce uniform cracking of the layer without causing it to separate from the supporting web. The uniform cracking produced by the rolling enables the blank to be subsequently shaped into a cylinder without the coating breaking away. An example is described in which a blank 0.05 inch thick is rolled to 0.048 inch thick and bent into a cylinder 0.50 inch diameter. The electro-chemically active material may be deposited directly on the metallic conductive web.
