A signal processing device and a control method thereof are provided to solve the security problem which may be generated during a process of transmitting a certificate by copying the encoded certificate and providing a separate key for decoding the certificate through user authentication. A communication unit(203) communicates with a different signal processing unit in which an encrypted first certificate is stored. A controller(213) connects to the different signal processing unit through the communication unit to copy the first certificate and decode the copied first certificate. A storage unit(211) stores the second certificate. A receiver(201) receives data broadcasting signals in which data information is included. A processor(205) processes the data broadcasting signals. A user input unit(209) selects the electronic commerce function which purchases products by using the data information.
