A system for generating and reproducing a 3D stereoscopic image and a method therefor are provided to reproduce the 3D stereoscopic image efficiently, even in a memory having small capacity. The first camera(310) photographs a predetermined subject from a left view point or right view point, and then outputs the first image data. The second camera(311) photographs the subject from a view point different from the view point of the first camera, and then outputs the second image data. An image signal processor(320) pre-processes the outputted first and second image data. A storage unit(330) stores the pre-processed first and second image data. The file generator(350) generates a stereoscopic image file by using the first and second image data encoded by the encoder(340).
