A cleaning unit of a painting apparatus is provided to improve flow speed of waste liquid by making difference of pressure incredibly in a waste liquid line in case of cleaning of metallic paint having a long cleaning time. A cleaning unit of a painting apparatus comprises the followings: an air tank for cleaning connected through each port of a color changer; a waste liquid line(17) discharging the waste liquid; a ventury unit(19) forming negative pressure on an end side of the waste liquid line; a control valve controlling supply of line pneumatic and mounted on a pneumatic line(21) supplying the line pneumatic into the ventury unit; and a controller controlling the control valve according to color information of a car body and connected to the control valve electrically.
