<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device allowing an observer to easily adjust breathing rhythm to feel relaxed at the time of eye closing in matching relation to a change in the brightness of illumination light, an illumination control unit and an illumination control method. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting period of a light source 10 is divided into an introducing period and a relax period and a control part 20 controls the light source 10 so that the brightness ratio C1 (=LMAX<SB>1</SB>/LMIN<SB>1</SB>) of the maximum brightness LMAX<SB>1</SB>to the minimum brightness LMIN<SB>1</SB>at one cycle of a brightness change becomes substantially constant within the range of 10<C1≤100 at the introducing period, and the brightness ratio C2 (=LMAX<SB>2</SB>/LMIN<SB>2</SB>) of the maximum brightness LMAX<SB>2</SB>to the minimum brightness LMIN<SB>2</SB>at one cycle of the brightness change becomes substantially constant within the range of 6≤C2≤100 at the succeeding relax period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
