A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to shorten a channel length of a thin film transistor, thereby improving an element characteristic. A gate line and a data line(28) define pixel regions crossly arranged on a substrate(150). A thin film transistor is arranged in the cross region of the gate line and data line. The thin film transistor comprises a channel length adjustment pattern(27) between source/drain electrodes(72a,72b). A pixel electrode(50) is arranged in the pixel region. The width of the channel length adjustment pattern is shorter than 2micrometer. The channel length of the thin film transistor is shorter than 2micrometer.
