<p>The device (1) has a route calculating unit for calculating a planned route with consideration of location data and a road network database, where the route leads from a starting point to a destination. A signal receiving unit receives position signals e.g. global positioning system signals. A position determining unit determines current position based on the position signals. Image data files (7) managed in a user-defined manner are provided in an editable image database to display the files on an optical display device e.g. flat panel display device.
