PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ARTICLES FROM CERAMIC OR METAL BY ELECTROPHORETIC FREE FORMING

An electrophoretic process is used to form a free-form dental prosthesis incorporating both ceramic and metal materials. In the process, ceramic slurry is introduced onto the substrate (3) via a hollow needle (6). An electrical potential difference is applied to the substrate and the ceramic slurry, and a layer of slurry is deposited on the substrate. The form is created by discharge from the needle as it moves under direction of a computer operated by prior art CAD/CAM process.
