A camera system and a control method thereof are provided to replace the lens easily by automatically turning the connection part of the mount when the insertion of the lens unit is detected. A camera system comprises a body, a lens module which is mounted on the body in order to be detachable, a lens module insertion part mounted towards the lens module body, and a mounting unit sensing that the lens module insertion part is inserted into the body and mounting the lens module insertion part in the body. The mounting unit includes a mount(330) in which the lens module insertion part is inserted, a lens sensor which senses that the lens module insertion part is inserted into the mount, a mount connection part(310) fixing the lens module insertion part, and a drive part driving the mount connection part depending on the detection of the lens sensor.
