Class 82(2) Metal or slag is granulated by directing a stream thereof tangentially into an upright funnel having a Venturi-like outlet with such high kinetic energy that it emerges in the form of a coherent paraboloidal hollow body from which drops separate and fall into a trough of water. As shown, metal or slag flows down channel 4 and follows path 5 emerging as a paraboloidal hollow body 7 from which drops 9 fall into trough 3. The size of the granules may be varied by varying the angle of the Venturi outlet.</p> |
