A thread cutter device for a sewing machine is provided to cut an upper thread and a lower thread fixed with an operating blade although an orientation of a loop surface is changed by a rotating location of an end side of the blade. A thread cutter device for a sewing machine comprises the followings: an operating blade moved by using a vertical supporting shaft; a drive unit(13) for cutting a thread; and an end unit of the operating blade catching a loop of an upper thread on a lower part of a pinhole formed on a needle plate. A supporting shaft of the operating scapel is arranged on a forming side of the loop of the upper thread.
