An ultraviolet light source apparatus is provided to prevent damage of a lamp by reducing a temperature difference of a top and a bottom of a light emitting tube by a cooling unit. A pair of electrodes(13A, 13B) is arranged inside a light emitting tube(11). A narrow diameter part(11A, 11B) and a sealing part(12A, 12B) are formed in both ends of a discharge lamp(10). A lamp arrangement space of a cooling jacket(20) is parallel extended with the light emitting tube. An axis of the light emitting tube is horizontally supported. A cooling unit blows a cooling airflow on a top of the narrow diameter part. An exhausting unit exhausts the cooling airflow on a bottom of the narrow diameter part.
