Provided are operation modes selectable under the control of a second microcomputer (113). In the first mode, the operation of a memory controller (105) that responds to a memory command from a memory card interface terminal and the operation of a first microcomputer (106) that responds to an IC card command from an IC card interface terminal are performed separately. In the second mode, the first microcomputer operates in response to an IC card command from the IC card interface terminal. In the third mode, a memory controller and the first microcomputer operate in response to an undefined IC card command from the IC card interface terminal. In the fourth mode, the memory controller and the first microcomputer operate in response to a memory card command from the memory card interface terminal. The convenience of a semiconductor device having an IC card function and a memory card function is enhanced.
