PURPOSE: A method for controlling power of a mobile communication terminal is provided to cut off power applied to a display module by sensing a call signal, and to apply the power to the display module when a call is terminated, then to drive the display module, thereby reducing unnecessary power consumption. CONSTITUTION: If a user opens a folder, a display module is driven by applying power to a display(S10). If the user wants to make a call(S20), an MSM(Mobile Station Modem) senses a call signal(S30), turns off the power applied to the display, and turns off the display module(S40). If the user wants to retrieve a telephone number of a message, the power is applied to the display by pressing a display module driving key, driving the display module(S50). The user retrieves desired data(S60), cuts off power applied to the display by pressing the display module driving key after retrieving, and turns off the display module(S70). If the call is terminated, the MSM confirms whether the power is applied to the display. If not, the MSM applies the power to the display to drive the display module(S90). |
