A pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing an inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is provided to prevent adhesion of monocyte in a large intestine cell and reduce secretion of Inflammatory cytokine. A pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing an inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) comprises extracts from Cornus kousa as an active ingredient. The Cornus kousa extract is prepared by mixing water with Cornus kousa leaves in a ratio of 10 to 1 by weight and extracting the Cornus kousa extract at a temperature of 70°C for 24 hours. The 10-20 parts of the Cornus kousa extract is contained on a basis of 100 parts of the pharmaceutical composition. The pharmaceutical composition additionally includes a carrier, an excipient, or a diluent.
