A protective device for mounting to a portable computer includes an extensio n mountable so as to extend at least around an outer circumference of the base of the computer. The extension when so mounted is adapted to protrude substantially in a base plane of the base of the computer outwardly therefrom and substantially contiguously therearound. The extension is adapted for mounting of a carrying strap thereto at oppositely disposed laterally extending ends of the extension.
