Mixture for the preparation of glass fibers, comprises materials comprising (in wt.%): sodium carbonate (8-10); dolomite (2-8); borax pentahydrate (6-11); cullet (40-65); sand (15-30); limestone (2-6); and nepheline (0-1.5). An independent claim is included for a process for the preparation of the glass fibers from a mixture of raw material, comprising: loading of the raw material in a fusion zone of a furnace; mixing the raw material comprising the materials; heating the mixture at a temperature greater than the resulting liquid glass temperature, for the formation of molten glass able to form a fibers; and fiber forming of the molten glass by centrifugation.
