877,140. Feeding panels from magazines. WINKEL MACHINE CO. Inc. Jan. 22, 1960, No. 2510/60. Class 117. Battery panels are stacked in a magazine 8 (Fig. 3). Prior to discharge therefrom, the stack is lifted by lifting plates 14, 14A and the lowermost panel free from superposed weight is then shifted sideways by movable plate 101 so that the panel engages beneath retaining bar 117, and then is discharged by reciprocating shuttles 51. Plate 101 is carried by lever 102 pivoted at 103 and is operated by the shuttle 51 via cam means. Lifting plates 14 (or 14A) (Figs. 2, 9). Each lifting plate is provided with an element 33 connected to lever 41 pivoted at 43 so that, by means of cam follower 43, the lifting plate 14 is caused to rise and, as it rises, it moves inwards by engagement of cam 22 thereon with fixed rollers 21 so that the two plates, by means of toothed members 16, engage the stack and lift it off the lowermost panel. Shuttle 51 (Fig. 7). The shuttle has engaging plate 66 which is pivoted resiliently at 61 to block 59 and is adjustable longitudinally at 55, the whole being carried by carriage 72 which runs on wheels 91 and is guided by wheels 81, 82 and is operated by actuator 94 (not shown).
