A digital broadcasting system and a method of processing data in the digital broadcasting system are provided to be strong against error and compatible with an existing receiver when transmitting mobile service data. A broadcast signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed is received(S601). Transmission parameter channel signaling information and fast information channel signaling information are extracted from a data group of the mobile service data. Virtual channel information of an ensemble and the first program table information are parsed by using the fast information channel signaling information. The virtual channel information of the ensemble is a virtual channel group of the received mobile service data. The first program table information describes the service. Authentication information of a broadcast content included in the mobile service data is obtained from the first program table information(S605). The content included in the mobile service data is controlled according to the authentication information(S607,S609,S610).
