PROCESS FOR THE REMOVAL OF SULFUR AND NITROGEN FROM PETROLIC STREAMS

A method for removing sulfur and nitrogen from a petroleum oil is provided to inhibit the increase of the hydrogen consumption according to aromatic saturation by lowering the content of sulfur and nitrogen to 1 ppm or less. A method for removing sulfur and nitrogen from a petroleum oil comprises the steps of (U1) hydrogenation desulfurizing a petroleum oil in the presence of a catalyst to remove a sulfur component; and (U2) adsorbing a nitrogen component selectively to remove it by adsorption.
