A data strobe buffer and a memory system using the same are provided to interface semiconductor memory devices of various kinds. A data strobe buffer includes a first driver(110) and a receiver(140). The first driver outputs a first data strobe signal(DQS_1) in a write operation. The receiver receives a second data strobe signal(DQS_2) in a read operation and provides a third data strobe signal(DQS_3). The receiver compares the second data strobe signal inputted in a first mode with a reference voltage and provides the third data strobe signal according to the compared result.
