A wireless video system, a wireless video receiver controlled according to a control command of an external device, and a method for controlling the wireless video system are provided to power on a wireless video transmitter and a wireless video receiver by inputting a power on command in an external apparatus connected to an HDMI like a DVDR, thereby more conveniently powering on the video system. A user inputs a DVDR power on command through a remote controller(S310). A DVDR is powered on according to the DVDR power on command(S320). The DVDR power on command is transmitted to a wireless TV transmitter through an HDMI-CEC standard(S330). The wireless TV transmitter performs the received power on command(S340). The wireless TV transmitter transmits the power on command to the wireless TV receiver through a radio signal(S350). A radio signal receiver receives the power on command. The received power on command is transmitted to a wireless TV receiver controller(S360).
