This invention provides a polishing roll that can reduce the occurrence of consumption waste produced upon polishing of an object having a small throughhole such as a printed wiring board with a throughhole and can reduce clogging of the hole with consumption waste. The polishing roll (50) comprises a base material formed of an nonwoven fabric (12) formed by three-dimensionarily crossing synthetic fibers (14) having a fiber diameter of 10 mum to 36 mum and bonding cross points among the synthetic fibers (14) with a binder resin (16).
