A method and an apparatus for extracting the repeating pattern of music are provided to shorten the processing time for the repetition pattern extraction of the music. A method for extracting the repeating pattern of music includes the step for calculating the interval between the notes by receiving the information about the plurality of notes comprising the given music; the step for producing the interval ordered pair group; the step for calculating the interval distance of each interval ordered pair group according to the interval ordered pair and calculating the frequency of the interval ordered pair according to the interval distance; the step for selecting the repetition pattern of the music by using the peak of the frequency.
