<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket connector for increasing the speed to transmit a signal. <P>SOLUTION: The socket connector comprises an insulator main body, a first and second terminal groups and a shielding member. The insulator main body includes a mating face and a mounting face and has a main body part and a tongue plate so as to extend forward from the main body part, wherein a plurality of a second terminal grooves and recessed grooves are formed. The first terminal group includes a first fixing part to be fixed in the second terminal groove of the insulating main body, a first contact part provided at the front tip of the first fixing part, and a first solder connecting part extending from the insulator main body. The second terminal group includes a second contact part to be fixed in the recessed groove of the insulator main body, a second fixing part connected to the second contact part, and a second solder connecting part extending from the insulator main body. The shielding member has a top face, a bottom face, a pair of side faces and a storing hole for storing the tongue plate.
