PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a yarn, in which in a picture making by pasting a yarn onto a picture canvas, the yarn prior to the pasting is treated to thereby realize unprecedented diversified expression. SOLUTION: The method of treating a yarn for use in picture making is a method of treating yarn 7 to be pasted to surface adhesive layer 5 of picture canvas 1, comprising further twisting the yarn 7, or untwisting the yarn 7, or untwisting the yarn 7 in multiple wound form so as to take up a single yarn or double yarn, or cutting the yarn 7 into smithereens so as to realize cottonlike or powdery form, prior to the pasting to the surface adhesive layer 5.
