A magnetic rotation sensor (20) comprises a first sensing layer (22) within which a domain wall (12) separates regions of different magnetic orientation, the location of the domain wall being arranged to change when a magnetic field rotates relative to the layer (22) and electronic measuring means arranged to measure the location of the domain wall electronically and wherein the amount of relative rotation between the sensor and the magnetic field can be determined from the location of the domain wall.
