<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the number of colors to be displayed on a panel type display device controlling the display luminance by applied voltages, and to reduce power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A drive circuit includes: a frame memory 105 storing original image data input from a higer-order device 102 through an interface 103; a color subtracting means 104 for reducing color number information of the grayscale data of an original image according to color subtraction rate data transferred from the higher-order device 102 or input by a manual setting means such as an operation switch and terminal setting, and for expressing false colors in the original image only with the subtracted colors; a timing generating unit 106; a gradation voltage generating unit 107; and a gradation voltage selector 108 temporarily stopping the operation of the drive circuit according to the color subtraction rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
