PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which can enhance the space factor of a coil. SOLUTION: A stator 4 has an annular stator core having a plurality of teeth 12 arranged in the circumferential direction Z2 with a slot S therebetween, and a coil 10 wound in plural layers around each tooth 12. The coil 10 wound around each tooth 12 includes an intersection 28 between adjoining layers and the intersection 28 is arranged to face one of a pair of side surfaces 26 and 26 of the teeth 12, facing the circumferential direction Z2. The coil 10 wound around each tooth 12 is compressed from the other side of the pair of side surfaces 26 and 26, and thereby the winding of the coil 10 is restrained so as not to bulge.
