PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a recorder to execute both a vertical registration adjustment method in which a range of nozzles used for recording is limited and a vertical registration adjustment method in which recording data is shifted. SOLUTION: The vertical registration adjustment method in which the range of nozzles used for recording is limited, and the vertical registration adjustment method in which recording data is shifted are switched according to conditions such as a recording mode and types of recording media used.
