<p>Provided is a composite material, which has high transparency, excellent optical characteristics of an inorganic material, and excellent heat resistance. An optical element using such composite material is also provided. The composite material contains fine particles, which have a surface layer wherein an organic material is combined at a density of 0.2chain/nm2 or more but not more than 1.0chain/nm2, and a thermosetting resin, and has a crosslink density of 0.5mmol/cm3 or more but not more than 3.0mmol/cm3.</p> |
