<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure stable recording quality by executing OPC to determine optimal recording power in an optical disk device using a recordable optical disk medium. <P>SOLUTION: For executing OPC, following steps are carried out: a step (S502) of changing recording power with rough distances to record data in a predetermined area: a step (S503) of extracting amplitude information from the data of the area recorded in the step S502; a step (S504) of determining a low recording power range for obtaining data of small amplitude information again; a step (S505) of changing low recording power with fine distances to record data in a predetermined area; the step (S506) of extracting amplitude information from the data of the area recorded in the step S505, the step of combining the obtained pieces of amplitude information to obtain a relationship between the recording power and the amplitude information, and the step (S508) of determining optimal power by using the relationship.
