<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or minimize generation of excess sludge in a biological treatment tank. <P>SOLUTION: In a sludge volume reducing method and apparatus, a high-speed swirl 5 of liquid is generated in a treatment compartment A isolated from organic wastewater in the biological treatment tank 1 to form a high-speed rotating cavity part 6 in the rotational center, an oxygen-containing gas 7 is made to pass through the treatment compartment A through the cavity part 6 and at the same time the cavity part 6 is cut and crushed by hydrodynamic control to generate microbubbles 8, and sludge 3 is made to pass the cavity part 6 to be broken by shear fracture force of the high-speed swirl 5 and at the same time oxygen is dissolved in wastewater 2 by the microbubbles 8 generated from the treatment compartment A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
