The method involves cooling a film tube (4) near a blow head (1) by blowing air circularly in and/or on a predominantly upward pointing movement direction, where the film tube is made of a thermoplastic plastic. The film tube is removed and rolled up or processed via a collapsing unit (5) with squeezing and conveying rollers (7) to a two-layer flat web. The cooling carried out by using the air at an intermediate temperature lying above a solidification temperature of a tubular film is adjusted. The film tube is thermally shielded in an upper area by a hood (6) surrounding the unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing a tubular film.
