PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of rapidly and appropriately loading optical disks having mass different from each other on a turntable without incurring cost increase. SOLUTION: In the disk device, spin-up control processing is performed after a first chucking control processing. When a regulated time passes while FG signals cannot be sensed regulated number of times, it is recognized that a large diameter disk is spun up, brake control is performed when the regulated time passes and the phase of the large diameter disk is shifted from a phase before spinning up is started. When the FG signals can be sensed regulated number of times until regulated time passes, it is recognized that a small diameter disk is spun up, brake control is performed when the FG signals are sensed regulated times and the phase of the small diameter disk is shifted from the phase before spinning up is started.
