Disclosed is a method for producing, in a simple manner, an intraocular lens that can effectively prevent the occurrence of secondary cataract induced by the migration of a lens epithelial cell to a lens posterior capsule and the proliferation of the lens epithelia cell in the lens posterior capsule after an opacified ocular lens and a cortex are removed and an intraocular is inserted. The method is characterized by modifying the surface of an intraocular lens material and contacting the intraocular lens material with a polar solvent.
