The invention relates to a stator (1) for an electric drive motor, said stator comprising a number of stator teeth (2) separated by grooves. A multi-strand winding is wound around stator teeth (2), and adjacent coils (3) at least partially overlap. The stator is provided with coils (3) which each surround at least two stator teeth (2), and each extend in a groove between two stator teeth (2), in a first groove region, and in another groove between two stator teeth (2), in a second groove region. The first groove regions are arranged along a first arrangement line extending parallel to an arrangement of the stator teeth (2), and the second groove regions are arranged along a second arrangement line staggered in relation to the first arrangement line.
