The automotive drive system has an electric motor, e.g. a multi-phase motor (20), having a first set of windings and a second set of windings; a first inverter (38) to drive the electric motor, and coupled to the first set of windings; and a second inverter (40) to drive the electric motor, and coupled to the second set of windings. An independent claim is also included for an energy transfer system.
