The cover has tongues forming part of its rim bearing surface (1) connected to the side edges of openings (7) via surfaces made from a hollow pressed concave shape (60). The bearing surfaces form part of a series of co-planar areas (81) arranged between similar areas (82) of another series used for riveting a third surface (83) area. This in turn forms part of a third series of co-planar areas used to secure tangential tongues which join the clutch cover to one of the clutch plates, allowing them to rotate axially. A set of axially operating springs bears the cover against the plate. The concave surfaces are furrows opposed to those on the bearing surfaces, and diverge out to the exterior of their co-planar areas and to the closed base surface of their openings, thus giving a maximum width level with the inner edge of the surface.
