A method and an apparatus for receiving/transmitting contents are provided to automatically stream and download the contents by taking advantage of the RSS function through the mobile contents playing component which is connectable with the web network. A method for receiving contents automatically includes the process for receiving the sample contents corresponding to the set up search condition by connecting with the contents server connected with the content player in web network; the process for informing that the contents are updated if the reception of the sample contents are finished; the process for receiving the original contents about the sample contents according to the user option from the contents server if the update of the contents is finished.
