<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize image display and display irregularities detection with an identical display panel. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel having a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal display panel has a display section with a plurality of sub-pixels. The display section of the liquid crystal display panel has photosensors mounted on the respective sub-pixels, and light rays of which the luminance values are modulated in the respective sub-pixels are made incident on the respective photosensors. The side of the first substrate is a surface for observation, the backlight exists on the second substrate side, each sub-pixel has a pixel electrode and a counter electrode, the pixel electrode of each sub-pixel and each photosensor are formed on the first substrate, and each photosensor is formed on the side of the surface for observation of the pixel electrode in each sub-pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
