PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting abnormality of cogging torque inspecting the abnormality of the cogging torque, and a manufacturing method of an electric power steering system using the inspecting method. SOLUTION: The cogging torque inspecting method includes steps of: applying rotary power with a predetermined number of rotations to a rotor 40R of a motor 40 to be inspected for rotating it; measuring load torque from the motor 40 for the rotary power for frequency analysis during the rotation; and estimating whether the cogging torque is within an allowable range, based on whether a power spectrum As for the frequency obtained by the number of slots and the number of rotations of a stator 40S of the motor 40 is a predefined reference value K1 or less. Since the measurement thus need not be separately done during low speed rotation and high speed rotation in the inspecting method, the inspection is made more quickly and easily than the conventional method.
