913,499. Electrostatic precipitators. LODGECOTTRELL Ltd. June 8, 1961 [Aug. 19, 1960], No. 28745/60. Class 39 (1). In an electrostatic precipitator a corona discharge electrode is formed by a sheet 11 of expanded metal or other foraminous metal which is cut to provide at least two edges each interrupted by the foramina 12 to provide acute points 16 at least at alternate foramina along each edge. The sheet may be cut along lines positioned to provide equal spacing of the points 16. The sheet may comprise the scrap from sheets from which washers have been punched, Fig. 5, and the electrode may be bent to angle or trough section. In the precipitator the plane of the electrode is disposed perpendicular to the gas flow. |
