A CUVETTE ASSEMBLY, AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CUVETTE ASSEMBLY

A cuvette assembly (1) comprising a plurality of cuvettes (5) releasably and sealably secured to a carrier strip (2) for facilitating peeling of the carrier strip (2) from the cuvettes (5) when the cuvette assembly (1) is subsequently fed into a suitable analytical apparatus. The cuvettes (5) each comprise a pair of support tabs 20 which extend transversely of the carrier strip (2). The support tabs (20) define respective upwardly facing uninterrupted major planar surfaces (22) which lie in a common plane, and are suitable for engagement by vacuum pads of a vacuum transfer mechanism in such analytical apparatus for transferring the cuvettes (5) within the analytical apparatus. The cuvettes (5) are of polypropylene material, and a recess (25) in each cuvette (5) accommodates the carrier strip (2). The carrier strip (2) is formed of a laminate comprising a polyester carrier layer (28) and a polypropylene securing layer (29) for abutting an abutment surface (24) in the recess (25) of the respective cuvettes (5) for facilitating thermo-welding of the carrier strip (2) to the cuvettes (5) so that the carrier strip (2) is subsequently peelable from the cuvettes (5).
